JOB PURPOSE/OVERVIEW
We are looking for a lawyer with 4 to 6 years PQE to closely work with the firm’s managing partner on the EU law matters
QUALIFICATIONS
• 4-6 years of professional experience in EU law
• Member of the Bar in Belgium (Main List or List E). Belgian law qualification is not mandatory but is a strong plus
• Demonstrable experience in litigation in front of the EU courts
• Good understanding of sanctions required
• Understanding of the EU decision-making processes
• Prior law firm experience is a must

• Ability to take initiative, set priorities and organise work effectively and efficiently, with limited supervision
• Ability to multi-task and flexibility in meeting client-set deadlines
• Ability to put together coherent and well-formatted documents; attention to detail
• Ability to apply common sense to complex legal issues
• Outstanding oral and written communication skills in English and ideally in French
KEY TASKS INCLUDE
• Advice on the EU law
• Assisting clients in their litigation in front of the EU courts / administrative procedures in the EU institutions
• Ideally, legal advice on Belgian administrative law
• Sanctions legal advice: including writing memoranda relating to sanctions compliance matters
• Interaction with national competent authorities in the EU and with EU institutions (Commission, Council) on various sanctions related matters
• Monitoring and reporting on international sanctions developments for clients
• Conducting due diligence and background research
